Did you know that AI is programmed to agree with you... even when you are wrong?
AI is designed to be helpful, which often leads it to validate a user’s premises rather than challenging them. If a user approaches a problem from a flawed perspective, the AI simply optimises the error.
The Scenario: Imagine a leader transitioning from high-pressure sales into a premium services market (£10k+). If they ask an AI to "optimise my sales scripts for faster closing," the AI won’t warn them that aggressive closing destroys trust in the luxury sector. Instead, it will provide the most effective high-pressure scripts available. The AI has paved the way to failure because the leader "poisoned" the initial prompt.
The Inability to Read the "Unsaid" (Tacit Context)
AI processes text, not subtext. It does not grasp prestige, exclusivity, or a client’s fear of a high-cost investment unless explicitly explained in minute detail.
The Blind Spot: AI ignores the fact that in high-value services, silence and timing are essential strategic tools.
In our example: While a team of external consultants tries to steer the company toward consultative selling, the leader uses AI to double down on "the chase." The AI doesn't raise its hand to say, "Your instructions contradict the essence of your product." It simply executes.
The Lack of Situational Common Sense
AI can generate "flawless" processes on paper that are impracticable in social reality. It lacks the judgement to evaluate whether an action is appropriate for a client’s emotional state.
The Disconnect: A manager might use AI to design a "consistent follow-up" workflow. To the AI, persistence is a success metric; to a client seeking security and exclusivity, that same persistence is perceived as desperation or harassment.
Strategic Fragmentation
AI operates in information silos. If you ask it for a sales task, it provides a sales answer, often ignoring marketing, brand equity, and the wider user experience.
The Result: "Immediate closing" processes are created that clash violently with a brand built on "bespoke partnership." The leader believes they are being efficient because the AI delivers quick results, but they are actually fragmenting the company’s identity.
Conclusion: The Human Factor is the "Debugger"
AI’s greatest blind spot is its inability to detect a lack of strategic vision or the underlying biases of those giving the orders. In the case of a leader who mistakes aggression for success, AI becomes the perfect accomplice to organised chaos.
For AI to be effective, it requires a leader who not only knows what to ask but has the maturity to be challenged by the technology. Without a solid human criterion that understands market psychology, AI will only serve to accelerate the collision with the wall.
